Job description

Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician provides maintenance and facilities support for manufacturing site and equipment used in the manufacture of umbilicals for oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL:
  • Performs and documents preventive inspections of equipment and building systems.
  • Performs and documents preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair on facility HVAC systems, process chillers, cooling towers, plumbing, cranes, air compressors, forklifts, aerial lifts, portable generators and light towers, facility infrastructure (120vac thru 480vac circuits) and general maintenance.
  • Use computer software to update work orders and time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL:
  • Complete minor construction and repair projects, like drywall hanging and patching, updating facility offices, breakrooms restrooms around the facilities, general painting and touch-ups.
  • May assist with general facility clean up, conference room or training room setup as needed.

Qualifications
REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5 years of previous facility maintenance experience with HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Able to navigate in computer for needed equipment files or documentation. Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel, Gmail required.
  • Understand principles of Rapid Kaizens
  • Read, understand and apply Maintenance Department Process Maps
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics, comprehend complex drawings, specifications and procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) to obtain access to the work site.

DESIRED:
  • Prior general construction or repair experience is preferred
  • Previous working knowledge of computer software to document maintenance workorders and procedures.

  • Advises on and is involved in modifications of existing procedures and providing results.
  • Supervises or gives technical guidance to junior technicians.

IMPACT AND DISCRETION:
  • Performs a range of tasks with autonomy and may act as a cross departmental technical lead.
  • Independently makes routine decisions on equipment maintenance and calibration.

APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE:
  • Displays advanced understanding in the use of position related equipment including but not limited to multimeter, torque wrenches, equipment alignment tools, and other various test equipment.
  • Applies a range of techniques and standards autonomously.

PROBLEM SOLVING & INNOVATION:
  • Advises other engineers in implementing new technology, new equipment and new components.
  • Subject matter expert in technical field and has mastery in one of the technical fields.

NATURE OF COMMUNICATION:
  • Displays advanced professional communication and interpersonal skills when exchanging information with peers and supervisors.
  • Often serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%
  • Noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
