They must be adept at working independently, quickly diagnosing issues, and prioritizing repairs to minimize downtime. To excel as a Night Electrical Technician, you generally need a background in electrical systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance, often supported by a technical diploma or electrician certification. Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, circuit analyzers, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is typically required. These competencies ensure efficient, safe repairs and maintenance during off-hours, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous operations.

What is a night electrical?

Night Electrical jobs refer to positions where electricians or electrical technicians work during night shifts, usually to perform maintenance, repairs, or installations of electrical systems when buildings or facilities are less occupied. These roles are common in industries that require 24-hour operations, such as hospitals, manufacturing plants, and commercial buildings. Night Electrical workers ensure that electrical systems function safely and efficiently, addressing any urgent issues that arise outside of regular business hours. The job often involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and sometimes emergency repairs to minimize downtime. Night shifts may offer higher pay due to the unconventional hours, but they also require adaptability to nighttime schedules.

Job description

Senior Manager, Self-Perform Electrical Construction — Lead the Crews That Build It All

McCarran, NV | Full-Time | $160,000 – $200,000

The Opportunity

This is the top field-leadership seat for self-perform electrical work across a major Nevada industrial operation. Our client, a rapidly scaling clean energy innovator, is hiring a Senior Manager of Construction to run their entire electrical self-perform organization — a team of superintendents, electrical and mechanical tradesmen, and multiple concurrent field crews. From preconstruction through start of production, including live-plant modifications under shutdown schedules, you own the safety, schedule, budget, and people.

Why You'll Love It

  • Command the organization, not just a project: All Nevada self-perform electrical work rolls up to you
  • Rare trades-to-leadership path respected here: They want someone who's been a tradesman AND a supervisor
  • Complex, high-stakes work: Plant shutdowns, tool installs, and scope additions on operating facilities
  • Nevada advantage: No state income tax, Reno-Tahoe living

What You'll Do

  • Manage all aspects of the electrical and mechanical self-perform organization — construction, budget, and cash management across multiple projects
  • Lead a team of superintendents and field crews across electrical and process piping scopes
  • Develop schedules, project procedures, staffing plans, and equipment resources
  • Conduct weekly safety checks and monthly reviews with EHS support; champion the safety program
  • Assess design documents for completeness; resolve spec conflicts and scheduling issues with designers and field teams
  • Identify scope conflicts and constructability issues; escalate for leadership support when needed
  • Serve as the main point of contact for operations, maintenance, procurement, document control, and government agencies
  • Manage plant modifications and scope additions in shutdown-schedule environments
  • Approve staffing and equipment needs; advise on procurement methods and contracts
  • Lead dispute resolution, project closeout, and debrief cycles
  • Coach, mentor, and grow project personnel

What You'll Bring

  • 20+ years of construction supervision; 15+ years managing field personnel
  • 10+ years of electrical construction experience as both tradesman and supervisor
  • Proven record driving trades crews to safety, schedule, and production milestones
  • Experience managing superintendents and crews across electrical and mechanical scopes
  • Plant shutdown scheduling and coordination experience
  • Bachelor's in engineering or related field a plus; valid driver's license
  • Advanced Procore, MS Office, and Excel skills; P6 or similar scheduling knowledge
  • Strong risk management, delegation, and executive communication ability
  • Comfort with weekend/night/on-call work and physical field demands
  • A passion for sustainability

Twenty years in the trades earned you this seat. Take it. Apply now.
