Job description

Alterman Technologies (Special Systems Division) is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to install, program, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, and service commercial fire alarm systems. Qualified candidates will have experience working with Siemens, EST (Edwards), Honeywell, Silent Knight, and other commercial fire alarm platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, terminate, and test fire alarm system cabling and devices
  • Program, commission, and troubleshoot fire alarm control panels and networked systems
  • Install and service initiating devices, notification appliances, and control equipment
  • Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with NFPA 72 requirements
  • Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and construction drawings
  • Diagnose system faults and implement corrective actions
  • Complete service reports, testing documentation, and as-built drawings
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, customers, and other trades
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commercial fire alarm installation and service experience
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following platforms:
    • Bosch
    • EST
    • Honeywell
    • Silent Knight
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes
  • Ability to read construction drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Experience troubleshooting fire alarm systems and field devices
  • Basic computer proficiency for programming, documentation, and reporting
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel throughout the Austin area as required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL)
  • NICET Fire Alarm Certification (Level II or higher preferred)
  • Manufacturer certifications from Siemens, Edwards/EST, Honeywell, or Silent Knight
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience with voice evacuation and networked fire alarm systems
