General Description
Niagara Falls Culinary Institute (NFCI) located in the heart of Niagara Falls is seeking a dedicated and reliable Laborer to join our team. As a Laborer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen in the Savor Restaurant, ensuring a smooth operation for our culinary students and staff. If you are a dependable and motivated individual who takes pride in maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, we encourage you to apply for this opportunity.
The work involves performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual work. The incumbent is responsible for washing dishes, large pots, pans and cambros; cleaning the kitchen area, utensils and equipment; and cleaning floors. The incumbent is expected to lift heavy objects such as large pots, pans, and cambros on a frequent basis. The incumbent may also be assigned cleaning tasks both indoors and outdoors to include parking lots, sidewalks, hallways, and rooms as well as routine repair tasks. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Faculty.
Shifts will be 3:00pm -11pm on Saturday and 1:00pm - 9:00pm on Monday.
Typical Work Activities
1. Washes dishes and cooking equipment such as large pots, pans and cambros;
2. Scrubs pots, pans and cambros and either hand washes or utilizes an automatic dishwasher as appropriate to clean and disinfect the items;
3. Puts cooking equipment away in its proper place once it is cleaned and dried;
4. Maintains the dish room by cleaning and disinfecting the dishwasher and surrounding area;
5. Sweeps, mops, and cleans kitchen-area floors, cooler floors, etc.;
6. Receives used cambros and equipment and carts them to the dishwashing room;
7. Assists with the loading of full cambros onto carts and moves them to the loading area;
8. Takes out garbage;
9. Shovels snow when assigned;
Essential Functions
Working knowledge of the proper methods of storing and serving food and/or the care of cooking implements (pots, pans, etc.), insulated cambros and kitchen appliances; working knowledge of modern cleaning methods and the use of cleaning supplies and appliances; ability to follow simple oral and written directions; ability to lift heavy objects on a frequent basis; physical strength and stamina; willingness to be exposed to hot temperatures, dust, dirt, grease, grime, and offensive odors; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
