Reports To: Field Service Manager


Position Overview

The Service Plumber is responsible for providing expert diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and installation services for complex plumbing systems within commercial, institutional, and light industrial settings. This role requires a licensed professional who is client-facing, highly reliable, and committed to strict adherence to all plumbing codes and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Service & Repair

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and efficiently repair plumbing system failures, including issues related to domestic water, sewage, drainage, gas lines, and commercial fixtures.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine and preventative maintenance on backflow prevention devices, water heaters, sump pumps, sewage ejectors, and other critical plumbing equipment.
  • Drainage: Utilize advanced drain cleaning equipment (e.g., hydro-jetters, cameras) to resolve blockages and identify underlying system issues.
  • Installation: Install, replace, and modify plumbing components in accordance with blueprints, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete detailed service reports, including time logs, materials used, clear documentation of the problem found, and the solution implemented.

Safety and Compliance

  • Code Adherence: Ensure all work performed meets local, state, and federal plumbing codes, including those specific to commercial facilities.
  • Safety Protocol: Strictly follow all company safety policies, including proper handling of tools, working in confined spaces, and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Permitting: Understand and comply with required permitting processes for specific plumbing installations or major repair projects.

Customer Interaction

  • Professionalism: Communicate clearly and courteously with clients, explaining the nature of repairs, potential costs, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Estimate Review: Work with the Service Manager to prepare and present estimates for larger repairs or replacement projects.


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Journeyman Plumber License in TN or Master Plumber license is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience performing commercial plumbing service and repair work.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency with pipe fitting, soldering, brazing, and knowledge of various piping materials (Copper, PVC, PEX, Cast Iron, Steel). Experience with backflow testing and certification is highly desirable.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, work comfortably in tight spaces, and handle the physical demands of the trade.
  • Driving: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record are essential.
