Position Overview:
The Washington Capitals Youth Hockey Development Intern will be responsible for assisting in all day-to-day operations of the department focusing on community outreach and growing the game of hockey. This is a paid internship.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent the Washington Capitals at local community fairs, festivals, and grassroots events.
  • Assist in running Caps Hockey School visits to instruct P.E. classes about the fundamentals of the game, communicate with P.E. teachers, handle scheduling of visits and Professional Development sessions with teachers, and build mid-year and end-of-year reports about the program.
  • Serve as lead instructor for Street Caps Learn to Play clinics throughout the year at local outdoor street hockey rinks.
  • Organize and implement various on-ice and off-ice events throughout the season, while serving as both a coach on the ice and administrator as needed.
  • Execute administrative responsibilities for various on-ice programs such as Future Caps Learn to Play, High School Hockey programs, and ALL CAPS ALL HER programs.
  • Develop and improve current community hockey programs to be implemented throughout the season.
  • Implement Mites on Ice during 2026-27 Capitals home games and represent Capitals Youth Hockey Development department during any in-game activations.
  • Maintain the Youth Hockey Database with participant data from all events.
  • Create and organize various analytical and database and social media metric reports for youth hockey programs and players.
  • Additional duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Previous ice hockey playing experience and ice hockey skating proficiency required.
  • Ability to learn quickly and motivation to self-teach.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Organized, thorough, and detail oriented.
  • Basic level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Positive attitude and strong team spirit.
  • Reliable transportation and housing.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed based on event schedule.
Pay Rate: $18.40 USD/hour
