OVERALL SUMMARY
This individual will be responsible for managing part of the Elliott Equipment supply base including most functions from the procure to pay cycles. The responsibilities will include issuing/managing RFQ/RFP, expediting supplies, managing the purchase order process, and resolving any issues related to such purchases. This individual will also be involved in the purchasing phases of new product development and prototyping, retrieving data from MRP for analyzation, communicating ECO changes to suppliers, and maintaining new part set up in MRP.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Issue, expedite and follow-up on all purchased orders and purchase requirements to the assigned suppliers.
  • Manage supplier relationships and track their performance against our company’s objectives.
  • Ensure vendors and suppliers are aware of our company’s objectives, expectations, and quality standards.
  • Distribute and communicate ECO’s to the appropriate suppliers.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments.
  • Support manufacturing Operations and quality departments in resolving any supplier related issues.
  • Support new product development and new product introduction by participating in the multi-disciplinary development process.
  • Assist in preparation of departmental reports and KPIs.
  • Provide critical back-up to other buyers as needed.
  • Input and maintain purchase part data into MRP (buyer codes, commodity coding).
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Individual must possess these knowledge’s, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Some purchasing experience in Manufacturing Industry (steel fabrication purchasing preferred).
  • Basic understanding of MRP systems required.
  • Basic understanding of the order fulfillment process.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and requirements preferred.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Intermediate computer skills, MRP, MS Office and other applications.
  • Strong knowledge and use of MS Excel and data manipulation/extraction.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated capability of learning/implementing new programs
  • Basic understanding of industrial commodities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Typical office working conditions. Occasionally exposed to heat/cold, dust, noise, and welding fumes when working in plant

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related area preferred.
  • Two years of purchasing experience in the manufacturing industry a plus.
