Networking professionals are specialists who design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot computer networks within organizations. They ensure reliable communication and data sharing between devices, maintain network security, and optimize network performance. These professionals may work with local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), cloud networks, and other related technologies. Their roles often include tasks such as configuring routers and switches, monitoring network traffic, and resolving connectivity issues. Networking professionals are essential for keeping businesses and organizations connected and secure in today's digital world.

Computer networking jobs involve designing, implementing, and maintaining an organization’s computer network. As a computer network engineer, or in similar job titles, you may be in charge of installing a brand new network or updating an existing network. Your duties may include help desk work, troubleshooting issues with the network and with general computer problems experienced by staff. Networking jobs vary depending on the organization and its specific requirements–a multi-national organization has very different networking requirements than a small start-up of five people. Entry-level help desk positions can be a good way to transition into a career as a computer network specialist or engineer.

How does a networking professional typically collaborate with other IT teams within an organization?

Networking professionals frequently work alongside system administrators, security teams, and help desk staff to ensure smooth and secure operation of an organization's IT infrastructure. Collaboration often involves troubleshooting connectivity issues, implementing network upgrades, and ensuring network security protocols are properly integrated with other systems. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as network changes can impact multiple departments. Regular meetings, cross-functional projects, and coordinated response to incidents are common ways networking professionals interact with peers across IT.

What careers are there in networking?

Careers in networking include roles such as network administrator, network engineer, systems analyst, and cybersecurity specialist. These positions typically require knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and security tools, and often benefit from certifications like Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Network Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Network Engineer, you need a solid understanding of networking protocols, troubleshooting, and infrastructure, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with networking hardware, Cisco or Juniper devices, and certifications like CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help in diagnosing issues and collaborating with IT teams. These competencies are essential for maintaining secure, efficient, and reliable network operations critical to organizational performance.

Job description

Uncapped Commission $5,000-$10,000+ per month
InstallPros USA is a national technology installation company helping homes and businesses get fast, reliable connectivity where traditional broadband falls short.
We specialize in Starlink satellite internet installation, structured networking, Wi-Fi optimization, and advanced connectivity solutions. Demand is growing rapidly across the United States, and we are expanding our remote sales team to support the volume of inbound customers requesting service.
This is a 100% remote, commission-based sales role where you will convert warm inbound leads from customers who already want better internet and networking solutions. No cold calling. No purchased lists. No gimmicks. Just real inbound demand and a proven service.
Strong reps consistently earn $5,000+ per month, with top performers exceeding $10,000+ per month. Your earnings are directly tied to performance, and your ability to close determines your income ceiling.
Apply here: https://salesfloorpros.com/installpros/sell-with-us
You will be responsible for converting qualified inbound leads, answering incoming sales calls, and advising customers on the best connectivity solutions based on their location and needs. You will explain Starlink, Wi-Fi networking, and installation options in simple terms customers can understand.
You will book installations accurately, manage customer interactions inside our CRM, and follow up with warm inquiries to maximize conversion. You will operate independently while staying aligned with the team and maintaining professional communication standards.
This role is ideal for individuals with telecom, broadband, networking, ISP, or technical sales experience. You should be comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical customers and confident closing deals over the phone.
Candidates should be self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working remotely. This is a performance-driven role best suited for individuals who prefer uncapped earning potential over fixed hourly or salary compensation.
Commission ranges from $90 to $150 per completed installation. Realistic earnings are $5,000+ per month, with top performers earning $8,000-$10,000+ per month. There is no cap on earnings, and performance bonuses are available.
Apply here: https://salesfloorpros.com/installpros/sell-with-us
Top-performing reps will have opportunities to advance into senior sales roles, mentor new team members, and move into leadership positions. Management roles are earned based on performance and results, not tenure.
InstallPros provides warm inbound leads, a clear sales process, and strong operational support. Demand for Starlink and connectivity solutions continues to grow nationwide, providing consistent opportunity for high-performing sales professionals.
This is a fully remote role open only to candidates located within the United States. Telecom, broadband, networking, or technical sales experience is strongly preferred.
Apply here: https://salesfloorpros.com/installpros/sell-with-us
Requirements
  • Experience in telecom, broadband, networking, ISP, or technical sales preferred
  • Confident closing sales over the phone
  • Ability to explain Starlink and connectivity solutions in simple terms
  • Comfortable working 100% commission-based
  • Experience using a CRM and managing follow-ups
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment
  • Must be located in the United States
