Job description

Who we areAbout Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies-from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups-use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

At Stripe, managers grow teams and inspire them to do their best work. We're looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious IT Leader to manage our Corporate Network Team. This is a hands-on role that will continually assess the needs of our fellow Stripes, driving efficiencies and services that improve productivity. This position will lead a global team focused on delivering world-class office networks and self-serve tooling.

Stripe is growing rapidly, and with that growth comes a large reliance on technology and our corporate network infrastructure. We are looking for someone comfortable working as part of a globally distributed team and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical users.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the team responsible for powering the tooling, services, and infrastructure needed to enable Stripe's scale. You will act as a strategic leader and technical mentor, ensuring our global corporate offices, support centers, and partner networks are designed and operated to the highest standards.

On any given day, you might be designing automated provisioning tools, resolving complex undocumented network issues, or collaborating with Security and Engineering teams to implement solutions that support our rapid growth. You will bring a process-driven mindset to the team, establishing metrics to track operational efficiency and ensuring our network remains resilient and scalable.

Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Manage and grow a global team of network engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and high performance.
  • Network Design & Operations: Design, build, and operate Stripe's global corporate offices, support centers, partner networks, and PoPs.
  • Automation & Tooling: Help design, build, and deploy automated provisioning, remediation, and telemetry tools to drive efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish metrics to track operational efficiencies and bring a process-driven mindset to the team.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Security, Engineering, IT, and Operations teams to develop and implement infrastructure solutions.
  • Technical Support: Resolve complex network issues and provide support through a rotating 24/7/365 on-call schedule.
  • Documentation: Improve and create support procedures and documentation for global network services.
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply.

Minimum requirements
  • People Management: 2+ years of experience managing direct reports who are geographically dispersed.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of routing protocols (BGP), Layer 2 technologies (link/chassis aggregation), and network security (IPSec VPNs).
  • Vendor Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Junos and Juniper routers, switches, and firewall hardware.
  • Automation Skills: Demonstrated success building internal tools and automation at scale using Python or other scripting languages.
  • OS & Troubleshooting: Comfort with Linux/Unix operating systems and the ability to troubleshoot "the life of a packet" from client to server.
  • Execution: Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in high-pressure situations while maintaining a high level of discipline.
  • Communication: Outstanding collaboration skills with the ability to deal patiently with people in a wide variety of situations.
Preferred qualifications
  • Wireless Expertise: Experience with wireless design and troubleshooting; Aruba experience is a plus.
  • Physical Infrastructure: Experience with enterprise network builds, including wiring standards, gear installation, and circuit procurement.
  • Global Mindset: Excited about the opportunity to travel internationally to support our global footprint.
