We are open to candidates who live throughout Oregon and Washington. The Senior Network Engineer would be expected to report to the office on a quarterly basis, at minimum.

What We're Looking For:

This position is responsible for network architecture and the application of network-specific security best practices, as well as supporting risk remediation efforts within the network environment. It is responsible for improving system reliability and availability while ensuring that network configurations align with industry standards and ISO requirements. This role will strengthen vendor management by applying technical expertise to evaluate, challenge, and resolve complex support issues-reducing reliance on vendor guidance and ensuring solutions align with organizational requirements and risk posture.

A key objective of the role is to mature the network environment through monitoring, alerting, automation, documentation, implementation of best practices, and team knowledge transfer. This position is responsible for managing large-scale projects, including but not limited to network hardening initiatives in support of ISO compliance. This role serves as the organization's primary networking resource, requiring broad and deep expertise across the domain. The position is expected to operate with a high degree of ownership in executing and prioritizing work, while partnering with IT leadership for strategic direction, decision-making, and approval of significant changes.

The Senior Network Engineer must have deep and broad expertise in networking technologies, architecture, and best practices. As our environment is predominantly Fortinet-based, Fortinet experience is a significant plus. This individual reports to the Infrastructure Manager of the IT department.

What You'll Do:

Own enterprise network infrastructure and Fortinet security platforms end to end, serving as the authoritative technical lead for network architecture, configuration standards, and operational governance.

Change network design and security controls with managerial approval, including re architecting systems as necessary to remediate risk, improve resilience, and align with industry and regulatory standards.

Be accountable for network availability, security posture, and risk reduction, proactively identifying systemic weaknesses and resolving complex connectivity and performance issues that materially impact the organization.

Lead all network related remediation efforts in support of ISO compliance, translating audit and monitoring findings into concrete technical controls, configuration changes, and documented evidence.

Serve as the senior technical interface with network and security vendors, independently evaluating vendor guidance, challenging inaccurate or incomplete recommendations, and driving issues to effective resolution.

Define and implement monitoring, alerting, patching, and automation strategies, establishing a mature, supportable network environment with reduced reliance on manual intervention and reactive troubleshooting.

Establish and maintain authoritative, environment specific documentation for network architecture and Fortinet implementations, replacing legacy materials with accurate, actionable standards and procedures.

Drive knowledge transfer and operational readiness across the team, ensuring internal staff are equipped to support and sustain the network environment as maturity improves over time.

Provide timely troubleshooting and resolution of network issues, prioritizing efforts according to incident severity, business impact, and outage scope.

Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of server and distributed systems networking design, configuration, and integration.

Provide support and guidance to help desk staff and system administrators in troubleshooting and resolving system-related issues.

Exhibit strong communication skills with colleagues and leadership, contribute meaningfully in meetings, and consistently demonstrate professionalism and respect in all employee interactions.

Adhere to formal change management processes.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Perform all functions of the job in a safe manner.
