Job description

Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our national intelligence program in Northern Virginia that delivers engineering, application development, deployment, operations, upgrades and sustainment of products and services to achieve our client's global missions.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in network load balancing and traffic management engineering on large scale and complex network systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, plan and implement network load balancing, traffic management, and communications systems.
  • Continuously monitor data flows and implement strategies for traffic shaping and load balancing to proactively take action to identify and mitigate performance and security threats.
  • Utilize network traffic management best practices and protocols to protect sensitive data, ensure compliance with regulatory and client standards, and maintain the overall integrity of the program's network infrastructure.
  • Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conduct testing of network design.
  • Monitor network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
  • Plan implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
  • Advise network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • Develop, implement and maintain network management processes, procedures, test cases, test results, issue resolutions, performance analysis, installation configuration, and user guidelines/ instructions documentation.

**Position is Contingent on Contract Award**
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI with ability to pass/obtain a Poly clearances.
  • Min 8 years with BS/BA, Min 6 years with MS/MA.
  • 4 years maybe be substituted in lieu of a Degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer and Information Security, Computer Security, and/or Network Administration from an accredited university/college; or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related scientific/technical field.
  • Experience designing, architecting, and supporting both Cisco and Linux routing systems.
  • Experience designing, architecting, and supporting both Cisco and Linux routing systems.
  • Certifications: Security +, IATT Level II, vendor-specific certification
  • Minimum of Five (5) years' experience with the following:
  • Planning, designing, and analyzing LANs
  • Overseeing the implementation and test/troubleshooting activities
  • Reviewing and approving changes to the design and implementation
  • Documenting installed systems
  • Recommending and operating the network management and control systems to maintain the LAN hardware and software
  • Working with operating systems and protocol such as Cisco IOS and NX-OS, Linux routing technologies, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
  • VMware virtualization

Desired Qualifications:
  • Current TS SCI with active Poly clearance
  • Vendor specific advanced/ expert certification

SECURITY CLEARANCE:
This Position requires an Active TS/SCI and the ability to obtain a Poly, US Citizenship is required to hold this clearance.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
