Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a System Administrator, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a System Administrator, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of Data Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.  AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.

AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

BNH currently has an exciting career opportunity available for a System Administrator to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.

 

 

Job Duties:

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Windows and LINUX environments, utilizing enterprise tools and scripting to streamline provisioning and maintenance.
  • Administer core server and network services, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP, to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Manage and maintain petabytes of infrastructure storage across the enterprise.
  • Develop and deploy automation scripts to enhance operational efficiency in system management, patching, and reporting.
  • Implement and audit robust cybersecurity controls, including system hardening, access management, and vulnerability remediation to ensure compliance with DoD standards.
  • Provide Tier 1/2 troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues across diverse operating systems and virtualized environments.
  • Manage and support virtualization and containerization platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Podman), collaborating on scalable system improvements and cloud integrations.
  • Execute end-to-end system maintenance, including performance monitoring, enterprise patch management (SCCM, WSUS, Lansweeper, custom tools), and proactive vulnerability assessments.
  • Implement, maintain and test comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and rapid system restoration capabilities.
  • Develop dynamic testing schedules and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Partner with Information System Security Managers (ISSM) to ensure policy compliance and stay current with emerging technologies and relevant certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Grade 06: Bachelor's degree focusing on Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. In lieu of bachelor's degree 4 years of relevant computer experience
  • Grade 07: Bachelor's degree focusing on Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering and 2 years of experience. In lieu of bachelor's degree, 7 years of relevant computer experience.
  • Current U. S. Citizenship required

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active DoD secret or higher-level security clearance
  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex multi-platform environments.
  • Experience with Windows & LINUX operating systems operating in an Enterprise environment.
  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server OS, and enterprise storage solutions.
  • Proficiency in managing DNS, DHCP, and network services in dynamic enterprise environments.
  • Skilled in scripting languages, primarily PowerShell, Bash, and Python, for automation and orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization (HyperV & VMWare).
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SSH) and network security best practices.
  • Effective communicator with proven teamwork abilities and technical documentation skills.
