Sourceability

Job description

Sourceability® is a global digital distributor of electronic components transforming how modern businesses bring products to market. With innovation, quality and logistics as the backbone of the company, Sourceability's cutting-edge products and services expedite the procurement process across a wide range of industries, including communications/cellular, consumer electronics, and auto manufacturing.
We are looking for a dynamic System Administrator to become a vital part of our vibrant IT team, working hybrid from our Austin, TX office. Join the energy and come be part of the momentum!
We are looking for a hands-on Systems Administrator to support day-to-day infrastructure operations, production stability, virtualization, Windows and Linux server administration, and operational follow-through. This is an execution-focused role for someone who is responsive, organized, and comfortable with operational ownership, production support, clear follow-up, and practical troubleshooting across Windows, VMware, networking, and related infrastructure areas.
The role is not intended for a highly theoretical or architecture-first profile. We need someone who can take assigned priorities, execute infrastructure work reliably, communicate clearly, escalate blockers early, and work constructively with DBA, DevOps, Engineering and Support teams.
Our goal is to have a sophisticated team equipped with expert technical skills in addition to keen business acumen. Each member of our team adds unique value to the business and the customer. Sourceability is committed to a culture where we attract the best talent in the industry.
Insight on your impact:
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server, Linux VMs, and core infrastructure systems.
  • Support VMware / vSphere infrastructure, including routine operations, monitoring, patching, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Support current virtualization platforms and participate in planned virtualization transition work, including Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Support network, VPN, firewall, and connectivity-related operational tasks in coordination with other teams.
  • Execute assigned infrastructure tasks with clear ownership, timely follow-up, and documented closure.
  • Provide concise status updates, blockers, next steps, and target dates to management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in production support, incident response, troubleshooting, and operational recovery activities.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, task comments, change records, and standard operating procedures.
  • Escalate risks, blockers, unclear requirements, or timeline concerns early rather than letting work stall.
  • Work under assigned technical and business priorities and coordinate changes through approved processes.

Preferred / Supporting Responsibilities:
  • Support Ubuntu / Linux virtual machines, including routine administration, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Support Microsoft Azure-hosted services and configurations where applicable.
  • Assist with security hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, and related operational controls.
  • Support audit readiness and compliance documentation in coordination with the Information Security team.
  • Participate in business continuity, disaster recovery, and operational readiness activities as assigned.

Your qualifications, your influence:
To be successful in the role, you must possess the following skills
  • 5+ years of experience in a Systems Administrator or similar hands-on infrastructure role.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server administration, VMware / vSphere operations, and support of Linux virtual machines.
  • Working knowledge of networking basics, including firewalls, routing, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and related troubleshooting.
  • Experience with patching, maintenance, change execution, and infrastructure troubleshooting in production environments.
  • Proven ability to execute operational tasks with timely follow-up and documented closure.
  • Strong written communication for status updates, task comments, technical notes, and operating documentation.
  • Ability to work under assigned priorities and escalate blockers or unclear requirements early.
  • Track record of constructive collaboration with cross-functional technical teams.

Preferred skills and technical familiarity:
Adding additional insight, and a growth mindset, will elevate your contribution in this role
  • Experience with Ubuntu / Linux administration.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 or similar security / compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with VPN solutions such as Cisco Meraki or equivalent platforms.
  • Exposure to audit support, vulnerability remediation, or infrastructure security controls.
  • Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, or willingness and ability to support a transition from VMware to Hyper-V

Key Competencies:
  • Strong execution and operational discipline.
  • Timely follow-up and clear written communication.
  • Practical troubleshooting and solution-oriented thinking.
  • Ability to work under clear priorities and manager direction.
  • Early escalation of blockers and risks.
  • Respectful and constructive communication during technical disagreement.
  • Comfort with production-facing work and operational urgency.
  • Ownership of task completion, not only technical opinion.

Behavioral Expectations:
  • When requirements are incomplete or conditions are imperfect, the Systems Administrator is expected to propose workable validation, troubleshooting, or remediation steps rather than stop at identifying ambiguity.
  • The role requires professional, respectful, and solution-focused communication with DBA, DevOps, Engineering, Security, and business stakeholders, especially during incidents, escalations, or technical disagreement.
  • The role works under business and technical priorities set by management. The expectation is timely execution, clear communication, and early escalation when timelines, dependencies, or requirements are at risk.
