Job description

TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a Low Voltage Technician Intern in the Ft Myers, Florida area. This is a 6-month temporary on-site position. Based on business needs and performance, this position may be converted into a full-time position.

Position summary:

Low Voltage Technician Intern Program:

This intern program provides hands-on exposure to the operation, maintenance, and integration of low-voltage ITS and tolling systems. Interns begin by supporting utility locates and preventive maintenance, assisting technicians with identifying underground infrastructure, inspecting equipment, and documenting system conditions. The program then advances to ITS and network operations, where interns gain experience with field devices such as CCTV, DMS, detection systems, and tolling equipment, while learning how these systems communicate through Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks. In the final phase, interns focus on toll system operations, assisting with inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of electronic toll collection infrastructure and observing realtime responses to alarms and outages. Together, these phases build a practical understanding of how ITS and toll systems are maintained and kept operational in live transportation environments.

Requirements:

  • Clean driving record with a valid US driver's license.

The employee is occasionally required to walk and to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The work environment may include frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, and moving traffic.
