Responsibilities

We are seeking a Telecommunications Network Engineer Senior to join our Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) team.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  • Ten (10) years of telecommunications experience, with at least eight (8) years focused on local area network (LAN) and/or wide area network (WAN) environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex telecommunications applications across all phases of network design, implementation, and analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage large-scale telecommunications projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs and manages all phases of telecommunications network design, implementation, and analysis for complex applications.
  • Analyze, design, develop, and manage telecommunications networks supporting a wide range of capabilities, including voice, data, video, and wireless services.
  • Independently perform, or work under only general direction, on moderately to highly complex requirements involving network analysis, planning, programming, and implementation.
  • Design and analyze voice networks, WAN and LAN data networks, wireless networks, and network management systems to support enterprise communications services.
  • Develop network designs and implementation plans covering the full lifecycle of telecommunications systems, from project inception through installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Analyze data transport requirements and system characteristics to define technical problems, develop system requirements, and produce detailed network specifications.
  • Coordinate closely with other information systems professionals to ensure effective and secure implementation of network services.
  • Collaborate with functional users to develop alternative technical solutions and backup/contingency plans.
  • Manage complex telecommunications projects involving all phases of network design, implementation, and operational analysis.
  • Lead and manage the evaluation and cost estimation of voice and data WAN services from telecommunications carriers.
  • Design access and backbone networks utilizing carrier-provided services or managing the design and analysis of wireless voice/data networks using private radio facilities or commercial services.
  • Provide technical and administrative direction to personnel responsible for telecommunications network design, implementation, and operations.
  • Review work products for technical accuracy, adherence to design standards, and compliance with schedules and user requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver milestone status reports, briefings, and presentations on network progress to stakeholders, leadership, and end users.
  • Make recommendations, as required, for approval of major network installations or architectural changes.
