Job description

Job Description:

The Network Operations team helps keep the company's global network reliable, secure, and available for stores, corporate offices, distribution centers, and business partners. In this role, you will support day-to-day network operations by monitoring network health, assisting with incident troubleshooting, maintaining network equipment, supporting software and firmware updates, maintaining documentation, supporting approved changes, and helping validate updates in the local QA environment before they are released to production. This role works closely with Network Engineering and other technology teams to support Juniper-based network platforms, wireless services, firewalls, WAN connectivity, and related infrastructure that enable critical business operations.

This job is located at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio.

What will you be doing?

  • Monitor enterprise network health and performance across Juniper-based platforms, wireless services, firewalls, WAN circuits, and related infrastructure; identify alerts, service degradation, and potential business impact.
  • Perform initial triage for network incidents by gathering logs, reviewing monitoring data, validating symptoms, and escalating issues to senior Network Operations, Network Engineering, carriers, or vendors when needed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting connectivity, latency, packet loss, routing, switching, wireless, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall issues across stores, corporate offices, distribution centers, cloud environments, and partner connections.
  • Support incident and problem management processes by documenting timelines, troubleshooting steps, findings, corrective actions, and follow-up items in the appropriate ticketing and knowledge systems.
  • Assist with maintaining network equipment, performing approved software and firmware updates, completing lifecycle maintenance activities, and validating changes while following established change management, security, and compliance procedures.
  • Maintain and support the local QA environment by helping validate network configurations, monitoring policies, automation updates, and operational procedures before production release.
  • Track equipment health, support replacement or refresh activities, and help ensure network devices remain current, supportable, and aligned with operational standards.
  • Keep network documentation current, including device inventories, circuit details, support procedures, escalation paths, diagrams, and knowledge articles.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Service Desk, application teams, carriers, and vendors to support timely issue resolution and service restoration.
  • Identify recurring issues, monitoring gaps, or process improvement opportunities and share recommendations with senior team members.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical incidents, after-hours maintenance, and urgent service restoration activities.

What will you need to bring?

  • 4-year degree in an IT-related field or equivalent work history.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT operations, network support, infrastructure support, service desk escalation, or a related technical support environment.
  • Foundational understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, firewall fundamentals, and Juniper Junos OS concepts.
  • Experience using network troubleshooting tools and commands such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, packet capture tools, log review, monitoring dashboards, Junos CLI, Juniper Mist dashboards, Service Level Expectations, and Marvis insights.
  • Familiarity with enterprise network technologies such as Juniper EX Series switches, Juniper SRX Series firewalls and gateways, Juniper Mist wireless access points, Mist AI, Marvis Virtual Network Assistant, Junos OS, routers, switches, wireless controllers, firewalls, load balancers, WAN circuits, and cloud connectivity.
  • Ability to analyze alerts, logs, performance data, and incident trends to support effective troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues, business impact, and resolution progress to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritize work, remain calm during high-impact incidents, follow documented procedures, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
