The Role

Sets direction for systems, networks, user services and vendor development efforts.  Defines the direction for the organization, standards, and tests systems and hardware to ensure interoperability and validates features and functions. Evaluates complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, formulating, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices. Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms. Configures systems to user environments. Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services. Regarded as a subject matter expert and may act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower level employees. Excludes those with full supervisory responsibilities.

This role is designated as a fully remote position within the United States.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Work with Product Development, Product Owners, Operations, and other cross-functional resources to define and deliver business-impacting projects.    
  • Capable of working independently, as well as with team members on different teams and indifferent locations.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Support federated development teams working to deliver new functionality, automating the management of all network devices.
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process and facilitate migration to a Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration approach.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting as needed to support production issues.
  • Assist and, in some cases, be responsible for the design and architecture of Transport Devices
  • Be willing to support deployments outside of work hours if a critical issue occurs.
  • Actively participate in all relevant agile ceremonies for each project iteration.
  • Ability to use tools such as vendor Gui's (Graphical User Interconnect), and EMS (Element Management Systems) in support of transport Equipment
  • Ability to use TL1 command line interface
  • Ability to provide re-route functions across a diverse network over SONET and DWDM technologies.
  • As a Sr Lead need to be able to train team members on SONET, DWDM technologies, as well as vendor equipment in support of these technologies
What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Typically, 10+ years of related experience
  • Experienced in:
    • SONET - Synchronous Optical Networking.  Experience with vendors Transport equipment, Fujitsu, Alcatel, Tellabs, for Provisioning, and Troubleshooting isolation
    • SONET Signals - DS1 - Ds3, OC3 - OC768
    • DWDM - Dense Wave Division Multiplexing - Experience with Vendors Tellabs, Ciena, Infinera. for Provisioning, and Troubleshooting isolation
    • DWDM Understanding of Aggregate Signal, Dispersion
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
