Background:
This acquisition will benefit the USAF by providing the necessary workforce structure required to meet overall mission of Special Access Programs (SAPs) supporting AFLCMC/EBU Weapons Superiority Division (Robins AFB) efforts. The position will provide "day-to-day" support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) activities.


The Linux Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of Linux servers and workstations, collaborate with the IT team to handle Linux-based infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to users. This role requires a strong understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, and scripting languages


Security Clearance:

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program (SAP) Information
  • Ability to successfully complete a Government Counterintelligence Scope Polygraph (CI Poly)
  • SCI experience or similar types of programs may be used in lieu of SAP experience, contingent upon customer approval

Qualifications:

  • 1 - 2 years related experience
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat.
  • Proficient in Linux command-line interface (CLI) and shell scripting.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or KVM.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and services, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS (CNAME, SRV, MX, AAAA, A, etc.), and VPN.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies, such as RAID, SAN, and NAS.
  • Understanding of security best practices and experience in implementing security measures on Linux systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Active Directory equivalent for Linux - e.g. OpenLDAP, NFSv4, Puppet, FreeIPA.
  • Microsoft Office 2016/2019 Enterprise Suite, Active Directory (Azure Domain Services, AD Connect, ADFS, Group Policy Object (GPO)) administration experience
  • Active Directory administration, including Group Policy & endpoint management (Windows Server 2019 or higher, Ubuntu, CentOS, and/or Red Hat)
  • Windows/Linux server Systems Administration (SaaS applications, hardware & networking services) experience
  • Experience administering Backup & Recovery for critical systems
  • Knowledge of Shell scripting language to develop and troubleshoot scripts for performing systems administration tasks
  • Analytical & communication skills for relaying technical information to others
  • Knowledge in Patch Management, Software Deployment, OS Imaging & Deployment using deployment tools such as PDQ Deploy &/or Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager(SCCM)
  • Experience with network storage devices

Education:

  • Desired Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related area or equivalent experience (1 year).

Certifications:

The Contractor shall comply with Information Assurance Contractor Training and Certification. As prescribed in 239.7103(b), the Contractor shall:

  • Must meet and maintain position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Manual 8140.03 for Information Assurance Technician Level II prior to the date of hire; and
  • Appropriate operating system certification for information assurance technical positions as required by DAFMAN 17-1305.

Performance Task:

  • Install, configure, maintain, audit, and support a secure Linux operating systems network environment and other mission related software (e.g., DevOpsSec, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, etc.)
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and reliability of Linux-based infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Linux-based solutions that meet business needs.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect Linux systems from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures to minimize data loss and maintain business continuity.
  • Automate system administrative tasks using scripting languages such as Bash or Python to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure proper system security and data integrity.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network services, including DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
  • Collaborate with software developers and system analysts to troubleshoot and resolve software compatibility issues on Linux platforms.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades to improve system performance and scalability.
  • Maintain internet applications and protocols IP, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, QoS, and SSL
  • Maintain file servers, Firewalls, network access, Security Monitoring Systems and system documentation as required
  • Interface with local customers and provide IT related support to quickly resolve problems
  • Establish complex operational software configuration controls and system interfaces for computer system(s) assigned
