This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we're developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies.

As part of a hard-working team of specialists, technicians and engineers, you will directly support the network engineering environment for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the teams' impact on all aspects of networking from the enterprise core to the access layers of the industrial and corporate networks. You must have a passion for solving complex and interesting problems, adapting as needed to better this unique environment by working towards improving the network by way of scripting and automation. The Network Engineer is a member of the information technology department and reports directly to the Manager of Network Engineering.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and tools to automate network design, deployment, and operational management processes, with a focus on Juniper Networks devices and solutions.

  • Work closely with network and security engineers translating network security requirements into automated workflows.

  • Develop and maintain network device templates and configurations.

  • Implement and manage network automation solutions using tools such as Ansible and Python.

  • Integrate automation tools with other systems for monitoring and configuration control.

  • Code review, testing, and validation of automation scripts and tools to ensure reliability and scalability.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation scripts and network operations.

  • Conduct training sessions and documentation to upskill staff in the use of network automation tools and best practices.

  • Physical Requirements (Rack/Stack/Move network hardware)

  • Participation in On-call rotation to provide 24/7 support with occasional weekend/holiday work.

  • Periodic travel (up to 20%) is required for this role.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of recent and continuous experience in traditional networking domains (routing, switching, firewalls, WAN, WLAN, etc.)

  • 2+ years coding, scripting for complex network environments.

  • 2+ years demonstratable experience with tooling, orchestration and automation in a Linux environment (Python, Ansible, Terraform, Git, CI/CD, APIs )

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with networking cloud and on-premises based infrastructure

  • Familiarity with the Juniper networking platform (JNCIS-DevOps a plus)

  • Familiarity with the Juniper networking platform

  • Familiarity with the Palo Alto security platform

  • Experience in aerospace, corporate, industrial and manufacturing environments

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
