Through services such as vocational counseling, job placement assistance, training and education, assistive technology, and support services, NMDVR aims to enhance the employability and independence of people with various disabilities. This position exists to ensure the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of the organization's network infrastructure. The role provides advanced expertise in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of complex, multi-vendor network environments that support critical voice, data, and video services. It ensures the integrity, availability, and performance of the network by addressing high-impact issues, developing long-term network strategies, leading major network projects, and maintaining security controls essential to protecting organizational data and operations.

- Design, plan, and implement complex LAN/WAN/WLAN, data center, VPN, and cloud network architectures across multi-vendor and multi-protocol environments.
- Lead and manage large-scale network installations, upgrades, replacements, and integration projects, including evaluating proposals, coordinating with stakeholders, and verifying proper implementation.
- Develop scalable network roadmaps to support secure, resilient, and future-ready infrastructure, ensuring alignment with technology standards and organizational goals.
- Monitor network performance, stability, capacity, and configuration to ensure optimal operation and rapid response to emerging issues.
- Serve as the final escalation point for advanced network problems, perform in-depth root-cause analysis, and develop long-term corrective and preventive solutions.
- Maintain network security by implementing firewalls, access controls, VPN security policies, threat detection tools, code upgrades, and mitigation of vendor-identified security vulnerabilities.
- Develop and document detailed network designs, standards, guidelines, diagrams, configurations, and project plans.
- Develop internal network solutions, tools, and configurations that meet requirements for performance, interoperability, maintainability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to standards.
- Plan, design, and optimize resilient wireless network services, including Meraki Wi-Fi environments.
- Manage VPN services, including distributing VPN client packages (e.g., AnyConnect Auto-VPN), configuring secure policies, and ensuring dependable remote connectivity for approved users.
- Coordinate connectivity requirements with external parties and Internet Service Providers to ensure stable and redundant network pathways.
- Maintain, configure, and support Cisco routers, switches, NextGen firewalls, and hyperconverged infrastructure components such as Cisco HyperFlex and UCS.
- Support cloud and hybrid network security solutions including Cisco Umbrella, Secure Endpoint, Identity Services Engine (ISE), Meraki MDM, DUO/Microsoft MFA/SSO, and Stealthwatch network monitoring.
- Evaluate, research, and test new network technologies and equipment for potential deployment within the organization.
- Integrate advanced technologies and cloud capabilities developed in other departments into the enterprise network environment.
- Identify chronic network issues or systemic performance gaps and develop sustainable remediation strategies.
- Provide guidance, training, and technical leadership to lower-level network staff and serve as a subject-matter expert to consultants and cross-functional teams.
- Lead technical project teams to ensure timely delivery of solutions and adherence to reliability, performance, and security requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory assessments related to network security and operations.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive hands-on experience with Cisco and comparable enterprise networking platforms, including switches, routers, NextGen firewalls, Secure Endpoint, Cisco Umbrella, Identity Services Engine (ISE), Stealthwatch, DUO/Microsoft MFA and SSO configurations, Meraki Wi-Fi, Meraki MDM, and AnyConnect Auto-VPN. They are adept at implementing firewall segmentation strategies, designing secure remote connectivity solutions, coordinating ISP and external connectivity requirements, and supporting hybrid on-premises, remote, and cloud network infrastructures. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively, prioritize competing demands, travel as needed, and provide reliable, high-quality support to over 20 offices and 350 end users statewide.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and three (3) years of experience in network administration and design. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
This position is expected to travel as needed to meet the networking/support needs of the organization.
Occasional travel is required.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage and sitting for extended periods of time. May be exposed to cramped areas, dust and noise. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Occasional travel maybe required.
