Position Overview
Our By Light team, the premier providers of innovative Information Technology (IT) services and communications support to the Department of Defense and Federal Agencies, is growing. We're increasing our team to support the US Army Comprehensive Modernization (COMPMOD) program. The program delivers end-to-end EFIS&T services-including survey and design through installation, security, and testing. This work spans NIPR and SIPR networks, Wi-Fi, VoIP, ISP/OSP infrastructure, and voice modernization across all CONUS Army installations.
We have openings for a Master Network Installation Specialist that performs highly detailed technical tasks, leads Network Installation Technician field teams in the performance of site activities, and is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing complex IT solutions to meet the organization's technological needs. This role requires a strong background in system implementation architecture and a deep understanding of various IT infrastructure components.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and completion of complex and detailed technical projects from survey and engineering to site implementation
  • Develop and maintain high standards of installation and service, and assist with leading, training, and counseling network installation technicians toward high performance
  • Serve as a technical knowledge resource to project managers and field technicians
  • Work directly with project managers as the first line of communication for the field installation teams supporting the PM's project(s)
  • Take responsibility for the development and quality assessment of all field deliverables prior to being formally submitted to the SME or project manager
  • Maintain accountability for the task-oriented work efforts of project assigned personnel
  • Help ensure engineering schedules are met or exceeded
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into comprehensive IT implementation designs

TRAINING AND IMPLEMENTATION
  • Lead the implementation and deployment of IT systems, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards
  • Responsible for physical onsite network surveys to determine the engineering solution for each project assigned
  • Responsible for providing client-site network installations support of hardware, including installation of entire service delivery nodes, as prescribed by Site Engineering Solution (SES) documentation
  • Prepare and provide complex site reports, documents, diagrams and VISIO drawings as required to meet customer deliverable requirements. Train and certify others to develop the same proficiency
  • Provide input to the field technicians group to assist with the formation of procedural documentation for field tasks - BER testing, platform configurations, deliverables, procedures, etc.
  • Performs configuration of installed technology, which may include cryptographic, MPLS, optical and timing equipment and supporting systems
  • Performs troubleshooting and fault-isolation to bring installed equipment to functional state. Coordinates with network engineers to facilitate installation testing and acceptance
  • Provide training on completing site surveys to create detailed and accurate site survey reports
  • Help assure that team members are adequately trained and equipped with the tools necessary to succeed
  • Help instill operational and field quality expectations within the base of network installation technicians such that the overall perception of and confidence in By Light site work continues to trend upward

ENGINEERING AND FIELD ASSISTANCE
  • In coordination with Engineering, provide project design support where needed and requested to meet customer objectives
  • Produces, directs, and leads preparation of Site Engineering Solution (SES) documentation, site survey report (SSR) documentation, site concurrence letters (SCLs), Site Implementation Plan (SIPs), and Indentured Bill of Materials (IBOM)/ Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM) documents, per site specific requirements
  • Assesses, designs, builds, and documents current site network configuration and user requirements at each site. Interprets SES according to real world conditions encountered at client site and modifies solution/design accordingly
  • Directs and leads preparation of drawings documenting configuration changes.
  • Performs system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, and other platform specifications
  • Documents as-built configuration through redlined SES documentation and produces Completion Reports (CR). Provides oversight and guidance of client-site installation support services
  • Provides quality assurance review of all Technical Design Packages.
  • Maintain high standards of installation services, and inspire this in other field techs
  • Provide onsite and remote technical direction in support of system's deployment, configuration, commissioning, and testing
  • Monitor assigned project and task issues, developing resolutions to meet the schedule, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Provide onsite direction and assistance during installations
  • Work with the Project Manager to determine appropriate alternative IBOM materials, when necessary

GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
  • Coordinate with Engineering Management on changes and updates to engineering and technical documents
  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders, addressing any potential risks or issues
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of projects from initiation to completion

Required Experience/Qualifications
  • 7.5+ years of relevant experience as Implementation Engineer
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and Visio

Special Requirements/Security Clearance
  • Active Secret Clearance; Top Secret preferred
  • Must be able to travel 90% of the time on deployments for both CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations
