Job Title: Controls Design Engineer
Job Description
This position involves designing electrical schematics for automation equipment. The primary responsibilities include creating designs in AutoCAD Electrical, completing redline prints, and performing electrical calculations to ensure accuracy. The role focuses on hardware design within the electrical controls design team, comprising six other members. Travel is not required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment is designed to customer specifications using standard techniques and approaches.
- Create electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical.
- Specify electrical and fluid power components for the bill of materials.
- Carry out assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision.
- Assist with the successful execution of assigned programs related to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate with mechanical designers, machine builders, electricians, plumbers, and controls engineers throughout the design process.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of experience designing electrical controls in AutoCAD for industrial equipment.
- Experience designing schematics for custom automated equipment.
- Proficiency in PLC programming and electrical engineering.
- Panel layout and wiring expertise.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Electrical Engineering Degree (nice to have).
- Background working as an electrician.
Work Environment
The role is part of a team of over 80 engineers, including mechanical, design, controls, and electrical professionals. The work environment is supportive and collaborative, with a laid-back team that values humor to alleviate stress from tight timelines. The engineering center is located near the plant, with no travel requirements.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bridgman, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41.00 - $50.00/hr.
