Entry-level professionals often start in technician roles before advancing to engineering positions.

What does a network engineer do, and how can I start in this field with no experience?

A network engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks within an organization. If you have no prior experience, you can start by learning basic networking concepts, obtaining entry-level certifications like CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA, and practicing with home labs or simulation tools. Many entry-level positions or internships are available where you can gain practical experience while working under the supervision of senior engineers. Networking with professionals in the field and staying updated with the latest technology trends can also help you break into this career.

What entry-level responsibilities can I expect as a Network Engineer with no prior experience?

As a Network Engineer starting out, you’ll typically assist with basic network monitoring, cable management, and troubleshooting routine connectivity issues. You may also help with hardware installations, updating documentation, and supporting senior engineers during network upgrades or maintenance.
