Job description

Zito Media is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician Apprentice to join our telecommunications team. As an apprentice, you will work under the supervision of experienced technicians to learn and perform tasks related to the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of cable television, internet, and voice systems. This is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on experience and technical training in the cable and broadband telecommunications industry.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in routine maintenance of hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) plant, including amplifiers, nodes, power supplies, and other outside plant equipment.
  • Learn to identify and troubleshoot service outages, signal issues, and performance problems in the field.
  • Support the repair and upgrade of coaxial and fiber-optic lines.
  • Accompany senior technicians during service calls to customer premises, learning proper procedures for technical troubleshooting and customer interaction.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of work completed, including materials used, signal readings, and test results.
  • Use tools, meters, and testing equipment to support diagnostics and repairs.
  • Follow company and industry safety standards and protocols, including climbing poles and working in various outdoor conditions.
  • Participate in training sessions and on-the-job instruction to build technical proficiency and industry knowledge.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or coursework in electronics or telecommunications a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems or willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within the telecommunications field.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):
  • Familiarity with hand tools, meters (signal level meter, voltmeter), or test equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of cable TV, broadband internet, or VOIP services.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and field safety standards.
