The Network Engineer/Specialist applies technical and operational expertise to solve problems of moderate complexity, contributes to the completion of projects, and interfaces with internal and external customers. This role is ideal for candidates seeking to expand their technical skills and take on greater responsibility in network engineering within a DoD government contractor environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Implementation:
    •  Assist in the design and implementation of network solutions to meet operational requirements.

    • Ensure network systems comply with DoD cybersecurity standards and policies, including NIST 800-171 and RMF.
    • Implement security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols.
    • Participate in audits and vulnerability assessments, providing input on remediation strategies.
  • Collaboration and Leadership:
    • Lead small teams on low-complexity network projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within scope.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support broader IT initiatives.
    • Mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support to enhance their technical skills.

Manager Defined Field:

  • Provides comprehensive technical expertise across multiple disciplines, including network administration, cybersecurity, and data management. In support of limited-footprint client deployments, this role requires flexibility to perform cross-functional, out-of-scope technical duties to maintain system availability and operational readiness.
  • Hands-on experience supporting SD-WAN network administration, including configuration, deployment, and ongoing operational support.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting routing protocols (specifically BGP and OSPF) within an active, operational network environment.
  • Experience with working on next-generation firewalls.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum of 4+ years of directly related experience is required for consideration.

  • Experience with network monitoring tools and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Security+ Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with DoD network environments, protocols, and compliance standards (e.g., NIST 800-171, RMF).
