Network Designer (Experienced or Lead)

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS), Ground and Mission Systems Engineering (GMSE) is looking for an Experienced or Lead Network Designer (Level 3 or 4) to join our team in Seal Beach or El Segundo, California.
The SI&WS GMSE division creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
The IT Network Designer will join a high-performing team that is immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work proprietary programs for U.S. government customers who are responsible for exciting advanced technology national security missions.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Designs, installs, and upgrades network components in support of operations and system modernization
  • Monitors network performance to identify potential problems
  • Performs network preventative maintenance tasks such as installing patches
  • Identifies root causes of network issues and provides resolution
  • Configures and maintains network infrastructure such as routers, switches, firewalls and security devices
  • Designs, installs, and upgrades network components in support of operations and modernization
  • Supports backup and recovery plans

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience in enterprise network support
  • Experience with hands on support of IT Hardware such as setting up, configuring, modifying and troubleshooting switches, routers, network equipment, high performance computing equipment, and server racks
  • Current CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with an adjudicated CI/FS polygraph

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Ground Systems Maintenance and Modernization
  • Experience with virtual Ground station hardware
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Active network engineering certifications in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+
