Job Description

At NineStar Connect, we do more than deliver technology—we build the infrastructure that connects communities and improves quality of life. As a community-minded cooperative, we're looking for a skilled and motivated Network Engineer I to help maintain and advance our carrier-grade network infrastructure. 

As a Network Engineer I, you'll play a key role in supporting and enhancing NineStar's core service provider network. You'll work with advanced networking technologies, provide Tier III support, and help ensure the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure serving our members and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and upgrade core service provider network devices
  • Support and maintain public-facing network services including DNS, DHCP, and network monitoring tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues escalated from Network Operations
  • Maintain accurate network documentation and diagrams
  • Research, test, and implement emerging service provider technologies
  • Provide technical training and support to NineStar employees
  • Collaborate across departments to deliver reliable, high-quality network services
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and support critical network operations as needed
Qualifications

Technical Knowledge

Experience with:

  • Carrier-grade networking environments
  • Internet services and networking protocols
  • Cisco networking technologies, including IOS, IOS-XE, and IOS-XR
  • OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
  • Linux-based network services such as DHCP, DNS, and TACACS
  • Network security best practices and advanced troubleshooting techniques

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex network solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

Education & Experience

You must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 2–5 years of networking experience, OR
  • Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field with 5–7 years of networking experience

CCNA certification is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold a CCNA will be expected to obtain the certification within six months of hire.
