Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to provide comprehensive accounting support across our operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting and bookkeeping experience, proficiency with accounting software, and advanced Excel skills. Experience in or interest in the timber, forestry, consulting, or natural resource industry is highly valued.
What You'll Do
Maintain general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Track and categorize costs by project, business unit, and department
Process timber sale reporting, deposits, and related payments
Prepare and assist with internal financial reports, including P&L statements, cash flow analysis, and project summaries
Manage payroll processing and support related compliance and tax reporting requirements
Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready financial records
Execute month-end close and financial reporting activities
Resolve accounting discrepancies and recommend process improvements
Support tax preparation and year-end reporting
Required Qualifications
Associate's degree (A.S.) in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field and/or 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data organization)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field
Experience in timber, forestry, consulting, or natural resources industries
Understanding of job costing or project-based accounting
Experience with multiple accounting systems or software platforms
Professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, etc.)
