Job description

Gilchrist Forest Products LLC., is seeking a full time Procurement Forester located in Gilchrist, Oregon.
  • Provide the forest management skills and expertise to accurately appraise and purchase timber that maximizes the highest margins for GFP from private lands, open market wood, ODF, USFS, and BLM lands.
  • Evaluate potential timber resource areas-develop purchasing strategies by analyzing timber quality and quantity and projected delivered cost data from the different resource areas.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key business partners.
  • Individual must possess strong negotiating skills and communicate effectively.
  • Responsible to keep updated records of timber sale results, volume under contract and track market conditions.
  • Communicate company views, beliefs, and professionalism on forestry issues through positive communication with landowners, contractors, government agencies, and the general public.

This position requires a minimum 3 years of experience log buying in the Pacific Northwest and a BS in Forest Management or related field. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
