Job description

Professional Placement Services is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector for our fabrication operation in Phoenix.  This is a full-time, permanent, direct hire role with a competitive starting pay rate, benefits, and room for growth!

Quality Inspection

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of fabricated pipe spools and assemblies.
  • Verify dimensions, fit-up, weld preparation, and material identification.
  • Conduct visual weld inspections in accordance with applicable codes and customer requirements.
  • Verify proper use of approved drawings, specifications, and revisions.
  • Inspect completed assemblies prior to shipment.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Review fabrication packages for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain inspection reports, weld maps, material traceability records, and turnover documentation.
  • Verify WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and welder qualifications are current and being followed.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, API, and customer requirements.
  • Assist in preparing quality records for customer audits and project closeout packages.

Material Control

  • Verify incoming materials match purchase orders, material test reports (MTRs), and project specifications.
  • Ensure proper material identification and traceability throughout fabrication.
  • Monitor segregation of carbon steel and stainless steel materials to prevent contamination.

Process Improvement

  • Identify quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Monitor recurring defects and communicate trends to management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing rework and improving productivity.

Shop Floor Support

  • Work directly with fitters and welders to resolve quality concerns.
  • Provide guidance on drawing interpretation and code requirements.
  • Verify hold points and customer witness points are completed.
  • Support hydrotesting, pressure testing, and NDE coordination when required.
