Job description

NOVA Engineering is seeking an NCDOT Certified Inspector/Technician based from our Charlotte, NC location and will primarily be on CMT/Special inspections projects.

This inspector will help ensure public safety by traveling to construction sites to inspect the contractorโ€™s work, and perform basic field soil, ABC stone, asphalt and/or concrete tests and inspections under the direction of other NOVA engineering professionals to verify the work is performed in accordance with NCDOT and project specifications.ย  ย 

Responsibilities:

  • Performing field materials testing of soil, ABC stone, asphalt, concrete and/or steel
  • Performing plant inspections for asphalt and/or concrete
  • Preparing detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and inspections/observations provided
  • Evaluating site and subgrade conditions on construction projects and providing recommendations
  • Communicating with clients, contractors, engineers and technician staff regarding construction issues

Required:

  • NCDOT Conventional Density Technician
  • NCDOT QMS Roadway Technician
  • NCDOT Introduction to Asphalt Pavements

In addition, preferred but not required:

  • NCDOT Concrete Technician
  • NCDOT QMS Density Guage Technician
