ECU Department of Student Development is currently seeking several Student-Athlete Academic Success Assistants, housed in the Athletic Complex, offering graduate employment opportunities designed to prepare emerging professionals for careers in student-athlete academic services and related areas of higher education.
The Student-Athlete Academic Success Assistant serves as a graduate-level member of the SAAS team, gaining practical experience in learning support, academic advising, tutor coordination, assessment, and student development within a Division I athletics environment.
Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Maintain a caseload of assigned student-athletes receiving academic support services.
  • Assist assigned academic advisors in monitoring student progress, outreach regarding academic concerns and pre-registration meetings.
  • Assist with tutorial program operations, including scheduling, training, and staff support for undergraduate staff.
  • Compile and organize academic data, review program outcomes, and assist with assessment initiatives.
  • Support daily operations of the Student-Athlete Academic Services center.
  • Maintain confidentiality and provide professional level support to student-athletes in accordance ECU, AAC, and NCAA regulations.

GPA Requirement Minimum of 3.0 Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
  • Experience working with students in an academic support, mentoring, advising, tutoring, or educational setting.
  • Experience working in a collegiate athletic services office and/or familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Desire to enter the field of Student-Athlete Academic Services.
