Job Description:
Barrett, The Honors College seeks a dynamic Alumni Coordinator who thrives in a collaborative environment to manage alumni engagement efforts and grow the established network of Barrett alumni locally, nationally, and globally through innovative programming and engagement. This position plays a key role in building a vibrant honors alumni community by encouraging alumni to get involved, make connections, and give back to Barrett by sharing their own Barrett journey. This position will report to the Director of Student & Alumni Engagement and collaborate closely with both the student engagement team and the development team/ASU Foundation to cultivate relationships and partnerships with Barrett students and alumni.
Salary: $54,600 - $57,000.00 per year; DOE

  • Ability to approach event planning with innovation, flexibility, and attention to details

Essential Duties:
  • Work with all aspects of the Alumni Relations program and activities under the direction of the Director of Student & Alumni Engagement
  • Recruit members and work with the Barrett Alumni Council (if there are geographic populations without a representative)
  • Provide assistance, information, and guidance in response to alumni inquiries.
  • Develop work plans to increase alumni participation in Barrett activities.
  • Cultivate relationships with alumni to increase volunteer participation, build the pipeline of philanthropy, and grow the base of support for Barrett priorities.
  • Foster engagement with current Barrett students (future Barrett alumni).
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement alumni events to enhance the sense of belonging amongst Barrett alumni. Thing includes planning events both locally and nationally to connect Barrett alumni with one another and to back to the alumni community.
  • Manage the Barrett Alumni mentoring program with oversight from the Director to help connect Barrett students to a Barrett Alumni mentor
  • Coordinate alumni communications, including writing/editing of alumni newsletters and/or other materials; Arranges and conducts interviews with alumni; writes and edits articles for alumni publications and acknowledgments/thank you cards.
  • Work with marketing and technology teams to maintain the alumni portion of Barrett's web site as well as provide content for alumni presence on social media platforms for Barrett.
  • Oversee and maintain alumni network which may include working with volunteers, faculty, and staff to plan and execute strategic outreach initiatives and special projects.
  • Serve as representative of the college on various committees.
  • Represent Barrett in public relations/liaisons capacity on matters relating to alumni relation functions, programs and activities. Serves as liaison to ASU Enterprise Team.
  • Maintain budget records and provide reports as needed.
  • Supervise a student worker as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Environment:
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time, walk moderate distances, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds to perform work.
  • Activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Communicates effectively verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
  • Use of calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard and mouse), printer, fax and copier. This position receives regular review of objectives.
  • Receives managerial review of completed tasks for achievement of established objectives. This position may provide work direction of activities to others for completion of project related tasks.
  • Some nights and weekends required to perform duties.
  • Some travel is required.
