Job description

Campus Enterprises Mission: Campus Enterprises is NC State University's division of retail and hospitality organizations - NC State Dining, NC State Stores, Lonnie Poole Golf Course, NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley), and the One Card Office. Each department is dedicated to providing service excellence, value and enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success.
Purpose: Provide vital support to Campus Enterprises and NC State Dining by providing an excellent dining experience for all guests.
Compensation: Students will start at a training level of tier 1 at $11 per hour. Once they have demonstrated sufficient skills they may be eligible to be promoted to a tier 2 position at $12 per hour.
In addition, eligible students will receive longevity raises based on years of service within Campus Enterprises. Dining and Catering employees earn free meals and are eligible for an end-of-semester bonus of up to $200.
Locations: Varies depending on event location (any building on campus)
Work Schedule: Event-based shift work; 4-20 hours per week. Includes nights and weekends and annual mandatory events.
Federal Work-Study Eligible
Essential functions and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide a superior level of customer service
  • Properly manage time to set up event spaces with table linens, silverware, glassware, and other catering equipment by event start time
  • Break down equipment immediately following event
  • Maintain and replenish food and beverage needs throughout event
  • Take initiative to work independently and coordinate with catering team as needed
  • Use problem solving skills to provide accommodations for clients in a fast-paced setting
  • Perform minor housekeeping duties
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Remain in compliance with RAVE! Catering student employee policies and expectations at all times
  • Perform other duties or side work as assigned by catering coordinators
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and guests.
  • Help to maintain temperature and sanitation to ensure food safety and assist units in maintaining a Grade A sanitation of 95% or better.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
  • Current NC State University student with a flexible schedule
  • Willingness to handle and serve all types of food (including meat products)
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and follow both written and verbal instructions and recipes to efficiently and accurately assemble menu items.
  • Ability to work with a team and effectively communicate.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must attend mandatory student employee orientation and training sessions

Expectations:
As a student employee with Campus Enterprises we expect you to be professional and be present for your shifts. This includes but not limited to:
  • Arriving on time for shifts
  • Having on a complete uniform
  • Clocking in and clocking out in a timely fashion
  • Cell phones are only used at appropriate times
  • Prioritize the client
  • Finish all duties before taking a break
