The Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems business is a trusted provider of innovative naval gas and hybrid power systems, control technology and support solutions for the U.S. Navy and navies around the world.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Director - Commercial Nuclear to provide senior technical leadership for the design, development, modernization, and support of advanced electronic systems used in commercial nuclear applications. This role will lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts, support customer and proposal activities, drive legacy system upgrades, and ensure technically compliant, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for mission-critical programs. This leader will serve as a recognized expert in commercial nuclear engineering, guiding system design, analysis, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement while mentoring engineers and partnering closely with program management, manufacturing, supply chain, and customers.
Job Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial nuclear engineering efforts for complex digital, analog, power, and electronic systems.
  • Direct system design, development, testing, implementation, and lifecycle support for new and legacy products.
  • Serve as the technical authority for customer solutions, proposals, modernization strategies, and engineering execution.
  • Translate customer requirements into compliant, manufacturable, and cost-effective designs.
  • Drive technical excellence through cross-functional leadership, supplier collaboration, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including significant experience leading complex technical programs and teams
  • Deep expertise in the design and development of electronic systems, including digital, analog, and/or power-related technologies
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and interdisciplinary engineering teams
  • Demonstrated success providing technical leadership, mentorship, and project guidance
  • Experience designing Single Event Upset (SEU)-tolerant systems preferred
  • Familiarity with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Experience with Commercial Grade Item Dedication (CGID) for nuclear safety applications preferred
  • Knowledge of commercial nuclear and/or military specifications and design practices

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
