Job Title:
Natural Gas Scheduler
Contract Type:
Permanent
Time Type:
Full time
Job Description:
As a Natural Gas Scheduler, you will support the US physical gas trading and marketing business by executing daily pipeline scheduling activities, managing nominations and confirmations, and ensuring accurate movement and inventory records across interstate and intrastate pipelines, storage and downstream delivery points. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective coordination with counterparties and pipeline control rooms, and a proactive approach to managing imbalances, constraints and operational risk.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Pipeline scheduling & nominations - Create, submit and track receipt/delivery and storage nominations on US pipeline Electronic Bulletin Boards (EBBs) across timely/intraday cycles; coordinate changes to meet commercial intent and operational constraints.
  • Confirmations & communication - Work with counterparties, pipelines and internal trading/operations teams to ensure nominations are confirmed and scheduled; escalate cut issues, constraints, OFOs and other operational events in a timely manner.
  • Position, imbalance & inventory management - Monitor daily positions by pipeline, meter and zone; manage imbalances, park/loan and storage inventory movements; support mitigation actions to stay within tolerance and minimize cashout exposure.
  • Pipeline operations & market fundamentals - Track maintenance notices, force majeure events, flow constraints, receipt/delivery capacity, storage levels and other drivers impacting flow and basis; summarize implications for the trading desk.
  • Customer/pipeline engagement - Participate in shipper calls and pipeline meetings; maintain working relationships with scheduling contacts and pipeline representatives to resolve day-to-day issues efficiently.
  • Industry engagement - Stay current on US gas market practices and pipeline rule changes through industry events, trainings and tariff updates.
  • Deal support - Partner with traders/originators on new business, onboarding new counterparties and points, and validating operational feasibility (metering, pathing, cycle timings, storage terms).
  • Measurement, settlements & reconciliation - Actualize volumes, resolve allocation differences, and support invoice validation and pipeline/storage settlements by tying deals to scheduled and actual flow data and agreed rates/fees.

Profile
  • Operations experience within a physical natural gas trading, marketing, producer, LDC, utility or midstream environment preferred
  • At least 2+ years relevant working experience within the energy trading industry
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas) and strong systems aptitude; experience with US pipeline EBBs and scheduling/ETRM tools is preferred
  • Team player but also able to work independently
  • Strong written and verbal skills in order to be able to effectively communicate with senior management, corporate lawyers, business counterparts and external advisors
  • Demonstrate integrity at all times
