Job Title: Technician Trainee- Intern

Location: Michigan

Compensation: $22 per hour

Position Summary

As a Gas Leak Survey Technician Intern, you will have the opportunity to help protect vital natural gas infrastructure throughout our community. In this role, you will be responsible for performing outdoor leak surveys on designated natural gas systems and inspecting gas meters for potential leaks and corrosion. This hands-on position supports public safety and environmental protection while providing valuable field experience in the utility industry.

You will report directly to the Field Operations Manager and work closely with experienced technicians to ensure the integrity of natural gas systems.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain technical equipment

  • Locate, survey, and assess the origin or damage and gas leaks

  • Detect gas leaks while inspecting designated areas

  • Record and process effective data pertaining to leaks

  • Ensure all field data is collected and reported accurately

  • Work independently

  • Be self-motivated and accomplish daily goals

  • Have strong communication and pay attention to details

  • Ensure community safety by detecting and assessing gas leaks

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record

  • Ability to pass a thorough background check and pre-employment drug screen required as a condition of employment

  • Must be able and willing to walk 5 miles or more per day on various terrain and various weather conditions carrying a minimum of 25 pounds

  • Willingness to learn and grow

  • Track record of being an over achiever

  • Desire to work overtime

  • Background in construction or manufacturing is a bonus

  • Passionate about making a difference in the environment

  • Familiar with using a smart phone and laptop to collect data
