Job description

Buyer I
Coordinates activities and initiatives related to the procurement and distribution of materials, equipment, supplies, and outsourcing for the organization in a fast-paced manufacturing environment by performing the following duties.
What Does My Workday Look Like in This Role:
  • Maintains procurement records and performs data entry into ERP/spreadsheets on items or services purchased, cost, delivery, quality, inventories, performance, etc.
  • Reviews new and existing order requisitions, obtains information and may negotiate on items such as price, availability, and delivery schedule from various Suppliers for product or services.
  • Compiles detailed assessment of items to select Suppliers and places approved purchase orders as required.
  • Manages the progress and delivery dates on raw materials/goods, services and communicates with internal and external parties. Addresses any issues and coordinates expediated delivery terms as needed.
  • Creates new products in PRMS (AS400 based System).
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Provides input and solutions to improve outsourcing strategy.
  • Other duties/projects assigned as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years' related experience, or at least 5+ years' related experience.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, customer service, problem-solving and math abilities.
  • Organized and able to communicate information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to be a team player and willingness to step in and take on new responsibilities as needed.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office especially Excel.
