OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to coordinate and assist the Corps Officers with the planning, development, management, and implementation of children, youth, and adult music ministry and arts programs. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, music programming, teaching music theory (including voice and musical instruments), arts instruction, and supporting and providing resources to group leaders and volunteers.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the coordination, planning, and implementation of the music ministry and arts programs
  • Responsible for choral direction and music arrangements, including the praise and worship team
  • Plans and implements age-appropriate music programs
  • Coordinate the organization of the community children's choir, senior choir, and other music classes
  • Teach music theories, voice, choir, and musical instruments
  • Ensure that child safety practices and measures are implemented at all times
  • Plans and produces musical concerts for Sunday worship and services
  • Ensure the security and maintenance of music equipment
  • Perform other assignments/duties as directed
  • Is a member of the Disaster Response Team and supports relief efforts in the aftermath of disasters.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field or previous music experience required
  • Guitar, ukulele, piano, band, and drums abilities preferred
  • Ability to understand academic and theoretical practice in music
  • Ability to teach music theory, such as voice, choir, guitar, piano and other musical instruments
  • Ability to work with children and all program participants
  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army programs, practices, and organization is desirable
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication
  • Must possess a valid Guam driver's license
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:

Use office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, telephones, musical instruments, etc.
