Job description

GD Resources LLC is seeking a skilled and reliable Liturgical Pianist to support weekly Catholic worship services at the MCBH Base Chapel. The pianist will provide musical leadership for the 0930 Sunday Mass, coordinate with chapel leadership, and support seasonal and special religious observances throughout the year.

This role requires musical excellence, strong collaboration skills, and familiarity with Catholic liturgical traditions.

Key Responsibilities

Weekly Worship Services

  • Perform live piano accompaniment for the Sunday 0930 Catholic Mass
  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before service for choir rehearsal and preparation
  • Collaborate with the Catholic priest to select appropriate weekly music
  • Coordinate and lead weekly rehearsals (approximately 1 hour)
  • Support and guide choir members from the congregation
  • Provide a positive, respectful worship experience through music

Music Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and submit monthly music plans for review by the Technical Representative (TR) by the 15th of each month
  • Prepare weekly service music outlines and, if requested, PowerPoint lyric presentations
  • Coordinate microphone placement and basic audio-visual requirements for services

Special Religious Services
Provide musical support for key Catholic holidays and observances, including:

  • Christmas (including Midnight Mass)
  • Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday)
  • Ash Wednesday
  • All Saints Day
  • Immaculate Conception
  • Confirmation services
  • Additional seasonal or emergency liturgical services as required
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong piano performance ability (traditional, contemporary, and liturgical music)
  • Familiarity with Catholic liturgical practices and worship structure
  • Ability to lead or support a choir
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work with clergy and chapel leadership respectfully and professionally
  • Experience in worship music leadership preferred (degree in music not required)
Work Schedule
  • Weekly Sunday service (approximately 1.5 hours total service time)
  • Weekly rehearsal (scheduled in coordination with chapel leadership)
  • Additional services during religious holidays and special observances
Deliverables
  • Monthly music plan submitted by the 15th of the preceding month
  • Weekly service music outline (when requested)
  • Participation in rehearsals and scheduled worship services
  • Coordination of music delivery for special religious events
Work Environment
  • Services are performed on-site at the MCBH Base Chapel (Building 6677)
  • A piano and basic chapel audio equipment will be provided
  • Work occurs in a structured military installation environment requiring professionalism and punctuality
Security & Access Requirements
  • Must meet all base access requirements for Marine Corps Base Hawaii Marine Corps Base Hawaii
  • Must be eligible for installation access under Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) requirements
  • Must comply with all federal and installation security procedures
  • Subject to background screening prior to employment authorization
