Murdoch Developmental Center is currently recruiting for Licensed Practical Nurses for multiple positions on 2nd shift. The primary purpose of the LPN position is to provide direct clinical services and medication and treatment administration. This LPN performs and documents nursing procedures and techniques as prescribed by the physician and outlined in the Person Centered Plan. This LPN performs duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This LPN works with the RN in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Recruitment Range: $46,220.00 - $56,812.00

*A Sign-on bonus of $4,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.*

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina or in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.

Conditional Requirement:

  • Successful candidate must be able to pass Healthcare Provider CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) written and physical requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Successful candidate must have a valid Driver License.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

Murdoch is currently recruiting for a variety of full-time permanent positions in multiple cottages. We offer flexible shifts and pay additions for hours worked:

  • 11:30a-8pm (8 hour)
  • 9:30am- 8pm (10 hour)
  • 2:30-llpm (8 hour)
  • 12:30pm-11pm (10 hour)
  • 7:30am-8pm (12 hour) 36/48h alternating weeks
  • 10:30am- 11pm (12 hour) 36/48h alternating weeks

Shift Work Schedule Shift Premium

1st 6:30am-3pm 10% Weekend Only

2nd 2:30pm-11pm 15% Weekday & 25% Weekend

3rd 10:45pm-6:45am 20% Weekday & 30% Weekend

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus*

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
