Job description

Nationwide Traveling Machinist (Per Diem + Mileage)

Location: Nationwide (travel required)

Pay: $40+/hr + $125–$180/day per diem + $0.725/mile

Project Length: 6+ months, open-ended

Nordic Solutions is looking for highly skilled CNC Machinists to support advanced manufacturing projects across the U.S. You’ll travel to multiple sites, work on challenging, high-precision components, and expand your skill set with each assignment.

What You’ll Do
  • Set up, run, and troubleshoot CNC mills and lathes

  • Program, edit, and prove out CNC programs

  • Machine one-off and low-volume parts in exotic and high-alloy steels

  • Design, build, and gauge tooling independently

  • Perform full inspections using height gages, CMMs, optical comparators, and other precision tools

Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of verifiable CNC experience in milling, 5-axis, Swiss, or dual-spindle/dual-turret lathes

  • Experience with manual mills/lathes, ID/OD or centerless grinding

  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills

  • Advanced inspection and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work any shift (nights, weekends, overtime)
