ms consultants, inc. is currently seeking a Municipal Project Manager to join our team in Northeast Ohio. This role offers the opportunity to lead municipal projects while building and expanding client relationships across Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania.
 
The selected candidate will lead a diverse range of municipal projects, from planning through design and implementation, and play a key role in building client relationships and supporting new business development. By joining ms, you will be part of a team that has provided complete municipal engineering services to communities throughout Northeast Ohio for more than four decades helping to improve the infrastructure and quality of life in communities across the region. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships and play a key role in growing our municipal presence across the region.

What You'll Do:
  • Meet regularly with clients to monitor and maintain satisfaction on all projects
  • Develop new projects based on the clients needs
  • Assist clients with short-to-long term capital improvement planning, project planning and funding procurement as needed
  • Assist with preparation of request for proposals and qualifications as needed
  • Establish relationships with regulatory and funding agencies to better serve clients and identify potential funding opportunities early in the project planning process
  • Perform project management duties on a wide variety of project types including: water/wastewater/storm improvements, street improvements, culvert upgrades, sidewalk replacement, curb replacement, funding procurement, plan review, etc.
  • Plan and execute assigned projects at a high level
  • Manage design tasks across various business units and support groups, manage client interactions, and perform engineering assignments requiring application of engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Perform work which may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements
  • Ensure that assigned projects are executed and completed on time and within budget
  • Coordinate QA/QC reviews of project deliverables with technical staff
  • Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineers and design/drafting technical staff
  • Work with the business development team to expand municipal services throughout the region
What You'll Bring:

We are looking for someone who is a creative problem solver, willing and able to communicate engineering concepts to Clients at an easy to understand level while  providing detailed, technical design ideas to technical staff in a collaborative, matrixed team environment.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant field.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License (Ohio)
  • Project Management Experience
  • Relevant experience in a wide variety of municipal engineering services.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally complex engineering concepts across a wide variety of audiences including but not limited to: Engineers, Contractors, Elected Officials, and the General Public
  • Exceptional critical thinking, strong problem solving, and decision making abilities.
  • Familiarity with federal and state funding agencies and programs.
