Reports To: Department Head / Principal
Job Summary:
The Social Studies Teacher (9-12) is responsible for teaching history, government, civics, economics, geography, and related social sciences to high school students. The teacher will foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and an understanding of historical and contemporary social issues, preparing students to be informed and engaged citizens.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in Social Studies, including U.S. History, World History, Government/Civics, and Economics.
  • Develop students' analytical, research, and discussion skills through projects, debates, and assignments.
  • Design and administer assessments, tests, essays, and projects to evaluate student learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, discussion, and civic responsibility.
  • Integrate technology and multimedia tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents to support student development and school initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development to remain current with social studies curriculum and instructional best practices.
  • Encourage students to connect historical events and social concepts to current events and global perspectives.

Qualifications:
