Academic Technology Support Specialist


Terms of Employment: Full Time, 52 Weeks. Minimum 37.5 hours per week, hours vary and may include evenings and additional weekend hours as determined by the college.
Compensation: $45,000 - $48,000 based on education and experience.
Classification: Career Plan.
FLSA Status: Salary/Non-Exempt.

Job Summary: The Academic Technology Support Specialist supports the College's learning management system (LMS), academic technology tools, online learning resources, and faculty/student support services. This position assists with routine LMS support, troubleshooting, documentation, training preparation, accessibility support, semester processes, and project tracking.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day LMS support. Provide first-line support for routine LMS and academic technology questions.
  • Assist with creating, revising, and maintaining help resources, training materials, support pages, internal procedures, checklists, and documentation.
  • Support faculty use of College-supported academic technology tools that enhance teaching and learning.
  • Assist with ADA and Title II accessibility-related support by helping faculty use available tools, checklists, and resources; refer complex issues as appropriate.
  • Assist with communication to faculty and staff regarding LMS updates, academic technology tools, training opportunities, accessibility reminders, and related support topics.
  • Assist with testing, documenting, and communicating updates to LMS features, academic technology tools, and instructional support resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Academic Technologies Director. 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Willing to consider candidates in the process of obtaining a bachelor's degree.
  • One year of related work experience is preferred.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheeting, database management, electronic communication, and common productivity applications.
  • Experience using an LMS preferred.
  • Experience with multimedia tools, web-based applications, accessibility tools, video/podcasting tools, or academic technology support preferred.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and responsive support to faculty, staff, students, and administrators. 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track requests, follow procedures, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to create, edit, and maintain clear documentation, instructions, checklists, and support materials.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
