The Opportunity
We are looking for candidates to be a part of a team that focuses on diverse audiences within the publicity organization at Netflix. The role will help devise and execute tailored, culturally relevant and innovative campaigns that help shape the perception of our original films, series, kids & family, documentary, and live content.
The ideal candidate will have deep entertainment experience, strong industry relationships, along with a love of community, and a great storyteller. They know how to strategically engage Multicultural audiences through publicity, marketing, content creator, grassroots strategies and various event efforts. This is a very hands-on role that requires extensive knowledge of the press and cultural landscape, passionate about diverse content and understanding how audiences consume entertainment news across traditional and emerging social platforms.
The role requires a seasoned publicity candidate who is results-oriented, as well as a clear and concise communicator. They will have experience in interfacing with executives, filmmakers, talent, talent representatives, agencies, production partners, and internal cross-functional partners.. The ability to manage a budget, as well as operating at scale and able to identify efficiencies while also keeping standards high that focus on impact are all an integral part of this role. This is a demanding, high-volume role that requires someone who is strategic, proactive, highly organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. This person is innovative, an excellent communicator, and knows how to drive cultural conversation. This person embodies the Netflix culture and is able to acclimate to the fast paced and ever evolving work landscape. They are excited by change, curious about the work and are always looking to what's next.
The Role
This publicist will work across the publicity teams, helping to craft campaigns that drive culturally relevant conversations around the Netflix brand, titles, and talent. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Providing big-picture thinking and leadership to continuously elevate and promote Netflix's original content
  • Developing creative, press-driven ideas that break through a crowded media landscape and drive conversation and advocacy while reaching diverse mix of audiences
  • Managing cross-functional relationships across content, marketing, awards, social, and global teams, as well as filmmakers, talent, and representatives
  • Collaborate across departments to accomplish PR campaign goals
  • Establish and maintain strong press, talent, and representative relationships and deliver on top tier publicity hits
  • Utilizing data, audience insight, and cultural context to evolve narratives and optimize campaign strategies
  • Strategize and work in partnership on junkets, PA tours, premieres, lives, creator programs and tastemaker events
  • Solutions-oriented, over communicates and an avid problem solver
  • Knowledge of key multicultural events, community programs, community leaders, festivals and conventions
  • Strong community and partner relationships with national and local Latinx, Black, LGBTQ+, Faith, Asian & Pacific Islander organizations
  • Contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team through mentorship and feedback while upholding Netflix's core values

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in entertainment publicity, preferably at studio/streamer or agency
  • Deep experience with multicultural campaigns, including festival and awards strategy and relationship with critics/awards groups like AAFCA, GLAAD, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume slate and multiple high-priority campaigns simultaneously
  • Strong business and strategic acumen, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects at once
  • Excellent communicator who can clearly articulate strategy to filmmakers, executives, talent, and partners
  • Skilled collaborator who stays consistently aligned with multiple cross-functional teams that range from content/programming to marketing, social and multicultural to product and beyond
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key journalists and key opinion formers; skilled at making use of multiple earned media channels, including broadcast, print, online and new media
  • Resourceful and thoughtful decision-maker who can navigate sensitive situations and fast-changing priorities
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through
  • Comfortable working hands-on across all aspects of a campaign, from strategy and messaging to drafting press materials and talking points, booking travel or putting together a press day schedule
  • Curious, collaborative, and open to feedback; motivated by continuous improvement
  • Embodies Netflix Culture values such as selflessness, inclusion, and passionate
  • Experience managing agencies and external partners
  • This role may be based in Los Angeles or New York, with an in-office expectation of at least three days per week; occasional travel and evening/weekend work will be required

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $171,000.00 - $293,000.00.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
