Foundry Lab Technician

Essential Functions:

  • Collect and prepare iron and sand samples for testing as required.

  • Perform all required lab testing on iron samples

  • Record and analyze iron and sand test results.

  • Initiate corrective action measures necessary to bring out of spec findings into compliance.

  • Order laboratory supplies and equipment.

  • Responsible for Calibrating/standardizing all testing equipment as necessary.

  • Adhere to all plant safety rules and procedures.

  • Work with Melt Deck personnel/management as well as metallurgist to correct problems associated with melt metal. Work with Lost Foam, Molding and Core Room foreman to correct problems associated with sand system.

  • Perform certain lab testing and functions as directed.

REQUIRED Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma and some college.

  • Complete understanding of operation/function of lab measurement and test equipment.

  • Must be analytical minded, capable of assessing the melt metal while troubleshooting any issues that are encountered.

  • Adequate communication skills.

  • Computer literate.

  • Quality conscious
