About This Role
The role encompasses delivering targeted instruction across various tiers, spanning from Tier 3 interventions to enrichment activities, with a particular emphasis on bolstering Tier 1 practices. This involves providing guidance and professional development to enhance student mastery of reading and/or math skills at grade-level proficiency. The successful candidate will be pivotal in cultivating an inclusive and nurturing atmosphere that champions comprehensive advancement, socio-emotional well-being, and academic success for every student. Furthermore, they will actively contribute to advancing our district's equity objectives, as outlined in Board Policy 7:12, which centers on promoting racial and educational equity. Essential Role Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify instructional needs and provide targeted support to improve Tier 1 instruction.
  • Analyze student performance data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement in instructional practices.
  • Design and deliver engaging professional development sessions, workshops, and training programs focused on effective instructional strategies.
  • Use data from classroom-level assessments, districtwide assessments (e.g. Measures of Academic Progress), and curriculum-based measures (e.g. AIMSWeb Plus) to identify students in need of academic intervention.
  • Provides explicit, scientifically based instruction to small groups of students.
  • Communicate to families regarding student interventions (start/stop date) and progress updates.
  • Use district data system to record student intervention plans and update intervention plans as needed.
  • Engage students in goal setting and monitor student progress towards their goals.
  • Maintains required data on individual student progress and shares data at school-based MTSS meetings and with families.
  • Participate in Building Leadership Team's MTSS meetings, grade-level MTSS meetings (as needed), district-wide Language Arts Specialist meetings, and other collaboration opportunities with staff as needed

Content Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Understands the importance of strong Tier 1 practices and have a firm understanding of Universal Design for Learning principles.
  • Understands the MTSS/RTI process and tiered instruction.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Illinois Learning Standards in reading and math.
  • Demonstrated literacy with assessments (e.g. AIMSWeb Plus, NWEA, Benchmark Assessment System (BAS)
  • Experience using intervention programs (e.g. Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), preferred.
  • Knowledge of guided reading and using assessment data (curriculum-based measures and MAP) to design instruction that will accelerate student learning.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Valid Illinois Professional Teaching License
  • Reading Specialist or Math Endorsement, preferred, but not required
  • Elementary Education (K-9) Endorsement
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the performance of light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.
