Job description

We are seeking a Lead IT Engineer for a full-time employee role with our client in Basking Ridge, NJ. 5+ years experience in an IT engineering, systems administration, or preferably a MSP solutions role, and a Microsoft certified Azure Administrator preferred (AZ-104).

to join our architecture team — someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical work and client-facing outcomes. This is a senior, high-impact role. You’ll own the engineering and delivery of complex Microsoft 365, Azure, and endpoint security projects across a diverse portfolio of managed clients, while keeping an eye on business outcomes and supporting our sales team in scoping and closing solutions.

What you’ll do

• Serve as a senior technical resource on the architecture team, driving design and deployment of IT solutions across managed client environments

• Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure environments including Azure Virtual Desktop

• Manage and tune Kaseya 365 platform tools — including Datto RMM, Kaseya MDR, SaaS Alerts, and Inky — across multiple customer tenants

• Oversee on-premises Windows Server environments, GPO, Active Directory, DNS, and print services

• Lead cybersecurity posture improvements: Microsoft Secure Score optimization, ASR rules, Defender for Endpoint, MFA, conditional access, and related hardening

• Conduct network and security assessments; produce actionable findings for customers

• Manage customer onboarding and offboarding end-to-end

• Own project delivery from scoping through completion — timelines, stakeholder communication, and documentation

• Partner with the sales team to scope solutions, review proposals, and support deal closures with technical credibility

• Write and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation to support recurring MSP operations

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years in an IT engineering, systems administration, or preferably a MSP solutions role

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 (Business Premium or higher licensing), Entra ID, Intune, and Exchange Online

• Practical experience with Azure — including Azure Virtual Desktop, Entra join, and cloud-based management

• Familiarity with Kaseya 365 or comparable RMM/PSA/security platforms in an MSP environment

• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration

• Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles — endpoint protection, email security, MFA, identity governance, and SIEM tooling

• Experience managing on-premises Windows Server environments and transitioning them to cloud or hybrid models

• Strong project management ability — you can own a project from kickoff to completion without being managed

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders

• A consultative mindset — you understand client business goals and shape technical solutions accordingly

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications (AZ-104) or would need to be completed within first 4 months.

• Experience with, Duo MFA, Inky, or SaaS security tooling

Please note: This position is not open to 3rd party c2c agencies. No visa sponsorship provided. All applicants must have permanent US work authorization and not require sponsorship now or in the future.
