Who are we hiring?
The Sphere Event Security Supervisor will be accountable for providing an exceptional guest experience throughout Sphere as it relates to event security. This role will focus on partnering within Venues, and across functions, to get work done through others in a fast paced and dynamic environment. Success in this role is demonstrated by creating a safe and secure environment without sacrificing an exceptional guest experience, committing to continuous learning and development, and achieving business results. Reporting to the Manager of Security, the Event Security Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and leadership of event security personnel during daily operations and live events. This role requires strength in people management, attention to detail, decision-making under pressure, and the ability to lead by example while delivering exceptional service and maintaining safety in complex, fast-paced environments.
What will you do?
  • Accountable for daily supervision and leadership of event security officers.
  • Lead and develop front line colleagues ensuring employees are engaged, upbeat, and capable of delivering exceptional guest experiences in a safe and secure environment. Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to achieve company objectives, especially in emergency situations and times of crisis.
  • Assess, train, evaluate, and coach front line colleagues utilizing previous experience and company provided programs.
  • Lead, supervise, and support event security officers before, during, and after events across various posts, ensuring safety and service standards are met.
  • Respond to and resolve security incidents, guest concerns, and medical emergencies with sound judgment, discretion, and urgency.
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings, evaluate team readiness, and maintain staff accountability for equipment, conduct, and performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date incident reports, administrative logs, schedules, and other required documentation for operational continuity.
  • Address VIP security walkthroughs, conduct site advances, and assist with special operations or high-profile events as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance of security workspaces and coordinate with Facilities teams for cleanliness, inventory, and operational readiness.
  • Exhibit initiative, dependability, and emotional intelligence in interactions with guests, staff, and executive leadership.
  • Responsible for various administration items such as scheduling, invoices, incident reports, daily reports, and documentation logs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that security office space and equipment is prepared to support security operations. Works with adjacent teams to address maintenance, custodial, and facility issues and improvements.
  • Addresses customer concerns, feedback, and suggestions in a timely and efficient manner
  • May be tasked with managing or supporting additional security programs that facilitate security operations such as equipment inventory, conducting security advances and walkthroughs for visiting VIP's, improving team processes, completing long term projects, and representing security leadership to other internal teams.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
  • Supervise Event Security Officers

What do you need to succeed?
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years' supervisory experience (preferred union experience) in the security, law enforcement, or military field, and preferably have knowledge of events, sports, theatre operations, within an entertainment venue.
  • Previous security experience required, prior service as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. military responsible for leading small units, training, and managing others would be ideal.
  • Candidates who have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to mobilize key stakeholders, and engage with all levels in the organization
  • Demonstrated experience completing reports and documenting staff performance is essential
  • Ability to engage and develop collaborative relationships and influence within team and across functions, even without direct reporting relationship, adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse group
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring and developing staff to perform at high levels and holding team accountable for achieving business goals and objectives.
  • Comfortable with managing conflict and responding to customer problems with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks while under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience in some or all of the following areas: guard force scheduling and management, conducting security advances, training security officers, responding to security emergencies, physical security project management, crowd management and writing security policy.

Special Requirements
  • Responsibilities also include but are not limited to radio usage, operation of specialized equipment (bollards, etc), placement and relocation of barriers, wayfinding, crowd management, conflict resolution, access control, personnel contraband/weapons screening and VIP escort/support.
  • May be exposed to theatrical smoke, strobe lights, pyrotechnics, intense sound, rapid motion video effects, smoke, and odors
  • May be deployed to outdoor posts that may be exposed to triple-digit temperatures, UV rays, high winds, or monsoon weather. Appropriate hydration, PPE, and sun protection will be provided.
  • May have outdoor and UV exposure
  • Must be able to work within an environment with loud noises and everchanging visuals.
  • Must be able to work multi-level floors, reaching up to 7 stories.
  • Must be able to work within enclosed, crowded spaces.
  • Must be able to successfully complete physical fitness examination.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment
  • General physical requirements such as lifting 25 lbs., standing for long periods, walking long distances, bending and constant motion is often required.
